What the Fund Supports

Seventeen years ago a group within the Mirboo North community, including some teachers, decided to establish the Chaplaincy Committee with the objective of providing counselling services to the students and school community of Mirboo North by way of a Chaplain.

In 2020 that organisation is still going strong, with on-going fundraising and donations as its life-blood.

This fund helps provide:

  • A welcoming, inclusive environment for all students

  • Support for young people navigating worries, challenges or change

  • Someone trustworthy to talk to during difficult moments

  • Guidance for students with disabilities, learning differences or wellbeing needs

  • Extra wellbeing programs across both schools

Every donation helps local students feel seen, supported and safe.

Community-Led Support

From the start Mirboo North Schools’ Chaplaincy (as it is now called) has financially supported the role of chaplain within both schools, where both principals see it as an integral part of their well-being programs.

These funds were primarily from community fundraisers including sausage sizzles, stalls, auctions etc, but as the financial support from the government decreased, the demand for funds to keep the role at full time were increasing.

Mirboo North Schools Chaplaincy decided to open up to donations from the community.
A Mirboo North Schools’ Chaplaincy & Well-being Fund was set up within the Community Foundation, which could receive donations and give tax deductible receipts.

As the chaplaincy role within the schools has had such a positive impact on so many individuals and families, it is highly valued and the community has been very supportive of this Fund, making one off and regular donations.
The Community Foundation also donated $50 for each new donor who came on board.
All of this helps to future proof chaplaincy and well-being programs for our young people and the school community.

Donate to the Chaplaincy & Wellbeing Fund

The Chaplaincy and Well-being Fund is not only committed to securing ongoing chaplaincy to both the schools but is also committed to assisting youth at MNPS and MNSC in other aspects of their well-being.

This includes providing a welcoming and inclusive learning experience for all students, whether you have a disability, a learning difference or need well-being support.

You can have an impact on the well-being of the youth of our community, by giving to the Chaplaincy and Well-being Fund by donating today – you can also select a tax deductible receipt).

If you would like to discuss your donation and how it would have an impact within the community, please contact us.
